John Wayland, CPA
John E. Wayland is managing shareholder with the firm Tuggle, Burton & Co., P.C.
Prior to joining the firm in 1983, Mr. Wayland worked for the Fort Worth, Texas office of an international accounting firm, and for a medium size local firm located in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Wayland’s professional experience includes audit engagements in construction, health care, financial institutions, not-for-profit organizations, oil and gas industry, manufacturing and wholesale distributors. He has worked with companies ranging in size from multi-national corporations to small, closely held companies. His primary focus is tax planning and compliance for all taxable entities, including individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, estates and not-for-profit organizations. He has presented seminars on tax related topics to various organizations in the Dallas area.
Mr. Wayland is a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington with a BBA in accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Texas and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Texas Society of CPA’s and the Dallas Chapter of the Texas Society of CPA’s. John is past chairman of the Dallas Chapter of CPA’s, Public Relation Committee.
Carol Kirk, CPA
Carol A. Kirk joined Tuggle, Burton & Co., P.C. in 1987. Ms. Kirk has been a shareholder of the firm since 2000. She has served as managing partner and is responsible for tax, audit and client accounting services.
Ms. Kirk’s professional experience includes audit and review engagements for financial institutions, not-for-profit organizations, manufacturing companies and wholesale distributors. She consults with primarily small to midsize companies, involving tax planning and government compliance. She has extensive tax compliance experience for individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, estates and not-for-profit organizations.
Ms. Kirk is a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington with a BBA in accounting. She obtained her Certified Public Accountant license in the State of Texas in 1988 and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Firm Associates
Colin Buckley, CPA-Audit Manager
Colin Buckley is an audit manager with the firm and serves as the primary client contact for the audit department.
Prior to joining the firm in 2011, Mr. Buckley worked as a supervisor for a small regional firm in downtown Dallas, Texas. He has performed audits of auto dealerships, professional associations, not-for profit and governmental entities, construction companies, banks, retirement plans, manufacturing and distribution companies, development- stage technology companies and oil and gas companies. His clients have included both large and small closely-held private companies, public companies and other organizations since joining the accounting profession in 1999. He has worked in industry for a variety of companies, including railroads, government defense contractors, and cable television companies, performing numerous accounting and fraud investigation functions. He has presented seminars on audits of retirement plans to accounting firms and organizations in the Dallas area.
Mr. Buckley is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Wyoming. He completed his public accounting certification requirements at the University of Texas at Arlington. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Texas.
David Callahan – Tax Manager
David joined the firm in 2011 as a Tax Senior. His previous employment was at a local firm located in Dallas, TX. Mr. Callahan’s professional experience is primarily in federal and state tax compliance for individuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, estates, and not-for-profit organizations. His experience also includes audit and compilation engagements for small hedge funds and pension and profit sharing plans including 401(k).
David is a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington with a BBA in Accounting and a Masters in Accounting.
Suzanne Finnell - Accounting Manager
Suzanne Finnell joined Tuggle,Burton & Co. in 1997. She works in our bookkeeping and payroll tax department and is certified as a Quickbooks Proadvisor. She provides software support and bookkeeping services both on-site and off-site for Quickbooks and other accounting software programs.
Suzanne attended Texas A & M University and received her bachelor degree at Texas Tech University.
Wendy Reilly, CPA - Tax Senior
Wendy Reilly joined the firm in 2003 as a Seasonal Tax Associate while raising her two young children. In 2012, Ms. Reilly began working full-time for the firm, and is now a Tax Senior. Wendy’s professional experience is in federal and state tax compliance for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and trusts.
Ms. Reilly attended the University of Texas at Dallas and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, and her Masters degree in Accounting with an emphasis in Tax. Wendy is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Texas.
Wendy enjoys spending time with her family, as well as walking their golden retriever.
Shannon Strickland, Accounting Senior
Ms. Strickland joined the firm in 2014. She graduated from University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting Control Systems. Her previous experience was with a local CPA firm whose clients were primarily small to medium sized local businesses as well as individuals. Shannon's experience includes preparing tax returns for indivuals, partnerships, corporations, trusts, estates, and not-for-profit organizations. Shannon is also experienced at all facets of bookkeeping services, financial statement compilation, and payroll services.
Lori Page - Accounting Associate
Lori Page joined Tuggle, Burton & Co. in 2012. Her previous employment was at a local CPA firm in Dallas, TX. She works in our bookkeeping and payroll tax department. She provides software support and bookkeeping services both on-site and off-site for QuickBooks.
Lori brings to our firm 10 years of experience in accounting and bookkeeping services as well as customer relations.
Kelly Cohen, Firm Administrator
Kelly Cohen joined Tuggle, Burton & Co in June of 2013. She is the Firm Administrator and that cheerful voice you hear when answering our office phones.
She brings to the team proven leadership abilities, as well as team building and personnel management skills. With 15 years experience as a clerical assistant providing a wide range of administrative support, which is imperative for the business.
Ms. Cohen not only brings experienced computer skills, but also offers strong people skills which are very important as part of our daily correspondence with our clients.
